I found an article titled Teacher’s Guide on the Use of Google Sites in the Classroom by Educators Technology from the website Educational Technology and Mobile Learning. The creator of the blog is Med Kharbach, he has 10 years classroom experience and has a doctoral degree in research.
This article is a complete guide to all aspects on using Google Sites; from why to use it in the classroom, types of pages available on Google Sites, ways teachers and students can use it, video tutorials and examples of educational Google Sites. Kharback (2013) states describes Google Sites as, “a wiki, blog, portfolio, all rolled into one easy to use package”. It also allows users to include Google Suite tools, along with Youtube videos, and much more.
Several reasons to use Google sites according to the article, it is free to use as long as you have a gmail account. If you do not have a gmail account one can be created for free. Google Sites is easy to use as an educator or student. A Site can be created in a few minutes with the use of templates. One major plus is that advanced technology knowledge is not needed to utilize Google Sites. “Google Site also offers you control over who can have access to the pages and who can share materials”, according the Kharback (2013). The main reason why to use Google Sites in my opinion is that it can create a collaborative learning environment for your classroom or library.
The Teacher’s Guide on the Use of Google Site in the Classroom, lists several more valuable ideas, tutorials and reason why to use it in the classroom. I suggest using this resource to explore more of the ideas discussed throughout the article.
