The last topic I found focuses on uses of Google Sites in the classroom with students. The article is titled 7 Ideas for Using Google Sites by Nathan De Groot. He has a blog called Just Start Tech, he is an educator and his desire is for everyone to become a lifelong learner because learning never stops, it just starts!
One of the first ideas he discusses is creating student digital portfolios. Students could use Sites to create a best work portfolio or a growth portfolio. This would also allow students to justify their reason for picking certain pieces. The next idea De Groot talks about is Hypersites. De Groot (2018), is talking about creating a lesson where videos, “Videos, Docs, Forms, and other resources can be embedded right on the page, making it very easy for students to access the materials.” The third idea for using Google Sites is one I would like to potentially use in the library. It is about creating Book Reports. There are so many different directions to take this idea. They could discuss story elements, or snapshots of chapters.
Another concept I was not familiar with was something called a Passion Project. This is a way for students to learn about things they are passionate about. This would be a great free time project for students to work on. Like Google Classroom, you can create a class page with more freedom to add and organize the content making it more user friendly.
The last two ideas for using Google Classroom is a research project and project based learning. For research the students are given a topic to explore and find more information about. For project based learning students are given an essential question to guide their learning. Sites would provide a great platform for collection resources, and presenting their projects.
